These are some notes that I took from a training a long time ago. I typed them out when I got home from that training and this hangs on my office wall.

Be Aware, Not Just Busy- Guard your time, especially your phone time. Send personal notes to those individuals that you know you have a hard time getting off the phone with. You cannot be a Procrastinator in this business. You may have to get up earlier than your children to get some of your necessary tasks done. If you have no distractions going on, you can get things done in a third of the time and then enjoy the day with your family.
Always Plan- Become a “List Person†Make your “To Do” list at night for the next day. This way you will not feel scattered as you start your day. Once you develop a “Business Plan”, you have to let your family in on the “Plan”. Agree as a family the days and times that you work and the days and times that you do not and stick with it.
Live in the Moment- You’ve got to live in the Moment, Work in the Moment, and Play in the Moment. If you are playing a game with your children and the phone rings…Do Not Answer the Phone. What you are doing at that moment is much more important and your children need to see you choose them over the phone. That is called living your life and enjoying it. And at the same time, when you are at a home show…your problems are locked in the car. It is all about them once you walk through that door. Work Hard when You Work, So that you can Play Hard with no guilt or worry about your business.
Anticipate Problems! - Problems happen, don’t they? Purposely leave spaces on your calendar just to handle problems. Block off an extra hour just to handle the unknown. You will have difficulties in life and work…once you accept this, you will handle them better.
Necessary or Nice? - Ask yourself…Is it Necessary that I do this today or Would it Be Nice if I could? If you get really good at doing the Necessary then you can enjoy the Nice.
Contacts Daily & Cluster Errands- Make a couple of phone calls daily and you would be surprised at how smoothly your business will start to run. It takes much longer to think about making the phone call than it does to just pick up the phone and do it! If you have a “To Do” list, then it is easy to only make 1 Trip a Day to take care of all errands.
Evolve into a Delegator- This is a process that is very difficult for most women. Be patient with yourself but learn to let go of some activities that someone else could do for you.
